Sticking to It

Don't you just love the idea of not cooking for yourself? It is so tantalizing! For one reason or another, you just don't want to put the effort into making something for yourself. So what do you do? Go out to eat! It really is such a wonderful concept... except... it's not that great for you. And the food isn't always great either. But you didn't have to do the cooking!
Why am I saying all this? Because this is the complete thought process that I go through for eating out. In the past three years, Brad and I have gotten more used to not eating out that much. And then the past year, we let go of that a little more. But this is the thing... I don't know why we do it. It's not like we love the food we get- total convenience is all.
We went out to eat a few weeks ago at a restaurant in Rexburg. I thought it was good (not wonderful or great- really just alright) but man oh man my stomach did not like it later. Just the thought of it, even now, makes my tummy flop. Then we went out for lunch at a decent fast food place yesterday and both of us regretted it later. Just didn't settle well at all! So this is our final decision: we are going to try to not eat out for the rest of the month. By doing so, we are both hoping we get rid of the habit. And I really want to stick with this and make it happen. Of course there will be exceptions- but that is just it, they are exceptions, not common place. And not like it's common now, but let's make it not common :)
I'm really excited and ready to do this. A change needs to happen. And it's going to happen!

  1. Good for you! Every time we think something sounds good "out" we just think of something we can make at home that's even better, buy the ingredients, and it ends up being healthier, cheaper and way more fun then going out to eat.. especially with kids! Other than traveling, we haven't been really out to eat in months, and it feels sooooo good! We've tried some great recipes at home and have even more up our sleeves that we want to try.
I know you can do it! Next time you want to go out to eat, you can make us that yummy pizza you told me about before and bring it on over! ;)

  2. you can do it. We did it once for 3 months, exceptions were with gift cards. We tried it because we spent too much money the previous year on going out to eat.
