When you ask the parents of our generation, where were you when Kennedy was assassinated? they answer like it was yesterday. Their parents, where were you when Pearl Harbor was attacked? They recall it with perfect clarity. Our generation... where were you when the World Trade Centers were destroyed?I remember my senior year of high school had just started a few weeks before. I was in my bathroom, doing my hair and listening to a music station. They kept reporting little 
things about New York, but it was a bit confusing. All of a sudden, it switches to the NBC broadcast of the attack. I paused what I was doing and started to listen a bit more. I run into my mom's room to the closest TV and they were showing the first airplane hitting the WTC. I couldn't believe it. I kept listening and finished getting ready. After that we were all glued to the TV and then the radio once we left for school. Arriving at school, almost all periods were dedicated to watching the news. We all knew it- our world had changed. I had to go to work that night and watched the continuing news there as well. The images were horrible- people running around with dust all over them, huge explosions on the WTC, people flinging themselves out of high story windows. How can people believe that this attack was justified? 2,974 people lost their lives, not including the hijackers. Civilians no less. On the attack of Pearl Harbor, a MILITARY base, 2,333 died. I am sad for our world. But I am grateful that if anything positive was to happen from the 09-11 attacks, it did bring our country's citizens closer together. The song "God Bless the USA" was all over the music stations after the attack:

I know our country will never forget these attacks. It completely changed our world- we soon went to war after and are still engaged over in the Middle East on the war on terrorists. It's amazing how things can change in an instant.
good idea for a post, "where were you when you heard about 9/11" i was on my way to work in southern california and didn't know what happened until i got there and my boss was crying. i didn't listen to the radio that morning so i was oblivious until i got there. we listened to the radio the rest of the day and my boss let me go to the church broadcast a few days later when pres. hinckley spoke. i'll never forget the horrible feeling i had then and how sad everything was. but also how americans seemed to pull together and unite. that was nice to see among all the pain.
