Our 4th of July

Happy (belated) 4th of July, everyone! Our 4th of July was busy, but low key all at the same time. It was great.

We got to go over to our friend's house, the Hemenway's, and play in their kiddie pools and the sprinkler hose. James had so much fun. And so did Gavin! We were pleasantly surprised when after a little whining, Gavin absolutely loved being in the shallow kiddie pool. It was so fun to watch the two boys enjoy themselves in the water and the sun with their little friends.
After the fun, we headed over to another friend's house, the Peterson's, for a BBQ and some fun. James decided he didn't really want to play with others so he holed up in the play room upstairs, playing by himself. And behaving, so I was ok with it! Gavin loved crawling around in their big house.
Daddy took James outside to try his first sparkler! Unfortunately, I didn't know and did not get a picture. But even more unfortunate, on his second sparkler a part of it fell off and James tried to pick it up... and burned his little thumb :(
So sad... Thankfully, Amy (the hostess) had some spray pain reliever which seemed to help a lot. James actually had quite the accident-prone-day- earlier he had scarped his leg coming down from our little garden wall, tripped on the hose and scraped his knee pretty good, and fell a few more times. Just one of those days!

We headed home and got the boys to bed and missed out on fireworks. But it was all good still because we just loved spending time with everyone and celebrating our country's birthday.

  1. Sounds like a fun day! Sad that James was a bit accident prone though.

  2. Yay for sunshine! Glad you had a good time. Sounds like James is a lot like Sadie. I'll blame it on the Dell genes :)
